A Very Warm Welcome to Our New Executive Director
It is with immense pleasure that we introduce Sportsometry’s new Executive Director, Elvert Eden. Elvert has assumed the role of Executive Director effective this fall of 2019. Elvert comes to Sportsometry with 15 years of experience in youth services as well as many years in the non-profit arena. Elvert brings invaluable leadership skills to our program from his vast professional experience in the community where he has excelled as a leader and mentor to youth in New Haven who have greatly benefitted from his dedication and passion for his work.
Elvert is the former Youth Development and Aquatics Director for Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership, Inc. (LEAP) in New Haven, CT. Under his dedicated leadership, the organization built on its strengths, developed new relationships and strengthened existing relationships with partners and supporters.
Elvert spent seven years transforming LEAP’s Youth Development program into one of the most recognized programs in Connecticut. This program helps teenagers become active leaders in their communities, gain valuable work experience, become mentors, and gain access to 2- and 4-year colleges.
In 2014, Elvert was tasked with reshaping LEAP’s Aquatics program, which is designed to help youth develop good swimming habits, emphasize water safety, further develop swimming skills, and teach youth to stay active and healthy. LEAP’s Aquatics program grew rapidly over his five years of leadership and averaged 500 swimmers per year.
Elvert’s desire to lead youth has been a life-long goal. He became a youth counselor for LEAP while enrolled at The University of New Haven where he obtained his degree in Communications (2000). In 2015, Elvert was inducted into the University of New Haven’s Football Hall of Fame. He had a stellar career as a Wide Receiver for Coach Tony Sparano and Chris Pincince, and is regarded as one of the best two-sport (football and track) athletes in UNH history.
Additionally, Elvert has spent several years working with the Stamford Board of Education and with at-risk youth in Bridgeport, CT.
Elvert has dedicated his life and work to youth development and plans to continue sharing his skills in pursuit of supporting young people. We are confident Elvert will offer a fresh brand of leadership under which Sportsometry and the youth we serve will thrive and benefit greatly from his professionalism, efficiency and supportive leadership style. We look forward to expanding our reach as an academic enrichment program and propelling Sportsometry to new heights here in the New Haven community and beyond.
Please join us in welcoming Elvert Eden in his new leadership position with Sportsometry.
